Anger
It's not anger that causes the harm....
Anger
Anger is a gift that keeps us changing,
Or a poison, our cells and relationships deranging.
Imploding or exploding, neither the aim,
Growth and benevolence call us by name.
There is nothing quite like a storm,
To clear what is becoming deformed.
Sweeping away the spent leaves and dust,
Making space to rebuild, to restore trust.
A storm clears the past,
Sometimes arriving as a powerful blast.
Silent and seething, or loud and forceful,
Leaving us drained, or quietly fearful.
Exploding, loud and harsh,
Imploding, walking that eggshell path.
Anger wears many disguises,
Mastery comes as reaction diminishes.
Anger brings gifts, sharp and swift,
When something feels off, unstable, adrift.
It signals danger, resistance, or fire,
Revealing the edges of buried desire.
These gifts hold gold, if we are willing to see,
Anger can build connection and community.
When courage is gathered and consciously expressed,
Its energy becomes something that serves us best.
It awakens, alerts us to necessary change,
Shows what must soften, release, rearrange.
It speaks of boundaries, fragile or strong,
Of what we’ve ignored, or accepted too long.
To judge our anger, to label it wrong,
Keeps us from freedom, from where we belong.
It feeds what festers in body and mind,
Repeating the patterns we’ve yet to unwind.
But within it are gifts, both yours and theirs,
If met with awareness, honesty, and care.
From the edge of despair, something shifts into view,
So often, it’s not what you thought to be true.
Anger keeps us moving along our way,
Guiding us gently, or firmly, away
From what blocks us, confines us, dims our glow,
And toward deeper truth, where we can grow.
Through healthy expression, something changes within,
The harshness softens, the noise grows thin.
Life begins to open, to nourish, to restore,
And your relationships deepen at their core
